Get to Know Patrick Ruehle, DDS, FAGD, D.ABDSM, MWCLI, FICOI

For over 40 years, Dr. Ruehle has felt blessed to have the opportunity to enhance the health, aesthetics, and lives of his patients using art, science, and technology. He’s seen firsthand the incredible influence oral health can have on someone’s confidence and daily comfort, and for him, nothing feels better than having a positive, lasting impact on the people who come to see us.
Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?

Dr. Ruehle initially went to college to run track and major in geophysics because his dad worked for Mobil Oil and traveled the world. But, while he didn’t really enjoy physics, he found himself naturally gravitating toward and liking biology. Medicine didn’t seem like a good fit either because he thought it involved too many emergency calls. He liked his hometown dentist and orthodontist, so all these factors eventually led him to the path he still walks today.
Interestingly enough, the first weekend after he earned his dental license, he had to take eight emergency calls! At that point he realized how important it was to be available to patients in need.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
As a Duncanville native, Dr. Ruehle attended Texas A&M on a scholarship, graduating cum laude in 1979 with his bachelor’s degree before attending the Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas for his doctorate in dentistry.
After finishing his education, Dr. Ruehle began practicing alongside his childhood dentist, Dr. Rodney Teague. He eventually took over the practice when Dr. Teague retired and later moved to Denton in 1999 to pursue better schools for his kids.
Throughout his career, Dr. Ruehle has continued to explore new disciplines in the field with Fellowships from The Misch Institute for Implant Dentistry, and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He has been awarded Mastership in the World Clinical Laser Institute for his extensive post-doctoral education in and teaching of Laser Dentistry. He has been recognized with Diplomate status by the American Board of Dental Sleep medicine. He is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (top 6% of General Dentists in the US), and holds a Certificate in Cone Beam Diagnostics from the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiologists. On top of this, he’s an active member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine, and the Academy of Laser Dentistry.
Thanks to his wealth of knowledge and experience, Dr. Ruehle is an in-demand educator, serving as a visiting faculty member for Spear Education’s CEREC Program and a clinical trainer and national speaker for laser applications in dentistry.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

Dr. Ruehle is happily married to his best friend and coach, and he’s the father of three incredible hardworking children and Papa to eight amazing grandchildren. He says he’s just a big kid at heart and loves playing with the little ones every chance he gets. When he’s not thinking about dentistry, building Legos, or learning the guitar, you’ll often find Dr. Ruehle on his parcel of land trying to decide between having bees, cows, or goats. He has no clue about any of them but is excited to learn!
